Our client is a scaling fintech company building embedded finance and payments infrastructure for partners across banking, retail, and software. Strategic partnerships are central to the company’s growth model, and the business is investing in senior BD leadership to expand its channel and partnership footprint.
The Opportunity
The VP of Business Development will lead the identification, negotiation, and management of strategic partnerships, including banking relationships, payment network partnerships, and embedded finance channel deals. This role reports to the CEO or Chief Revenue Officer and carries direct accountability for new partnership-driven revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnership Strategy: Define and prioritize the partnership roadmap across banking, payments, and channel partners.
- Deal Structuring: Lead negotiation and structuring of complex partnership and channel agreements.
- Banking & Payments Relationships: Build and manage senior relationships with bank partners, payment networks, and other regulated financial institutions.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner closely with Product, Legal, and Compliance to ensure partnership structures are commercially sound and regulatorily viable.
- Executive Relationship Management: Serve as a senior point of contact for the company’s most strategic partners.
- Revenue Accountability: Own and report on partnership-sourced revenue and pipeline to the executive team.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of business development experience in fintech, payments, or banking, with a track record of closing complex partnership agreements
- Deep understanding of the regulatory and compliance considerations involved in financial services partnerships
- Established network across banking, payments, or embedded finance ecosystems
- Experience negotiating multi-party, long-cycle commercial agreements
- Strong executive presence and comfort operating at the C-suite level with partners
