About the Company
Our client is a growth-stage fintech company scaling its operational backbone to support rapid customer and transaction volume growth. The company is investing in senior operational leadership to build the infrastructure, process, and systems required to operate reliably at its next order of magnitude.
The Opportunity
The VP of Operations will own end-to-end operational infrastructure, from customer operations to risk and compliance operations to internal systems, reporting directly to the COO or CEO. This is a builder’s role for an operator who can bring structure and scale to a company that has grown faster than its operational processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Strategy: Define and execute the company’s operating model as it scales transaction volume and customer base.
- Process Design: Build repeatable, auditable processes across customer operations, risk operations, and internal support functions.
- Systems Implementation: Select and implement the systems and tooling needed to operate at scale, including workflow automation.
- Risk & Compliance Operations: Partner with Compliance and Legal to ensure operational processes meet regulatory expectations.
- Vendor Management: Own key vendor and outsourcing relationships supporting operational functions.
- Team Leadership: Build and lead an operations team capable of supporting the company through its next growth phase.
- KPI Ownership: Establish and report on the operational metrics that matter most to the executive team and board.
Job Requirements
- 10+ years of operations leadership experience in fintech or financial services, including experience in regulated environments
- Track record of building or significantly scaling an operations function
- Experience implementing operational systems and process improvement at a high-growth company
- Familiarity with risk and compliance operations specific to payments or financial services
- Strong track record of cross-functional leadership and team building
Key Attributes
- Systems Thinker: Sees the operational machine as a whole, not just individual functions
- Execution-Focused: Bias toward building and shipping process improvements quickly
- Calm Under Pressure: Operates well when volume and complexity are growing faster than infrastructure
- Collaborative: Works fluidly across Compliance, Product, and Customer teams
